During our last trip through Queensland we stayed at the Big Rig Tourist Park while in Roma. This park is a member of Top Parks and offers discounts for members. We were allocated a large site next to the fence on the Major Street side of the park. This was a little tricky to back onto as it was near some of the workforce accommodation provided at the Park. The drainage point for the outlet hose was at ground level which was a nice change from some of our previous caravan parks.
Upon arrival the manager hops in a cart to escort you to the site which is very helpful as the park has a number of pockets around the grounds for caravan and/or camping.
The entrance to Big Rig Tourist Park is from McDowall Street and you can park near the reception office while you check in - plenty of space. On many of the sites you will need to park your car across the front of the caravan but we were able to park beside the cement slab.
There are two amenities blocks in the park which are old but adequate with shower curtains and small shelves to place your things while taking a shower - disabled facilities are available. The roads are gravel which was great after the heavy rain the night before. There are various types of cabins both single and double (some new and some not so new) – self-contained villas, workforce accommodation, as well as two houses for families.
Big Rig Tourist Park is central to Roma's main street., 500 metres from the pubs and restaurants in town, and adjacent to the Big Rig Information Centre. We did enjoy the location of the Big Rig Tourist park and took the opportunity for long walks and bike rides around town.
