The Sunshine Coast metropolitan area is the third most populated area in the Australian state of Queensland. Located 100 km north of the state capital Brisbane in South East Queensland on the Pacific Ocean coastline, its urban area spans approximately 60 km of coastline and hinterland from Pelican Waters to Tewantin. At the 2011 Australian Census the urban area's population was 209,263, and the metropolitan area's was 270,270, making it the 9th most populous in the country. The Sunshine Coast of Queensland starts about 100 kilometres north of Brisbane near Coloundra. This is a really popular place to holiday due to the beautiful climate and great beaches. This region includes the famous Noosa Heads, Coolum, Eumundi (well known for the markets held every Wednesday and Saturday), and the Glass House Mountains. Things to see include - Australian Zoo, Underwater World, Buderim Ginger Factory, Ettamogah Pub, etc. You will find a range of world class restaurants, cafes and golf courses at various locations in this region.
The Sunshine coast offer a vast variety of accommodation from five star resorts and self contained apartment, to backpacker accommodation and caravan/camping grounds. Maybe head up into the hinterland for, rainforests, great country views, pretty little villages etc, and still only be about 30 minutes from a beautiful beach.
