Bowhill is small settlement just north of Mannum in South Australia with a row of houses built along the Murray River. A river house is commonly referred to as a shack and some of these are available for holiday rentals. There are several jetties along the grassed riverbank in front of the houses so one must assume that this is another great spot on the Mighty Murray for water sports and fishing.
Bowhill has a general store that sells a range of goods – food, alcohol, fishing gear and souvenirs. There are barbeques and a children's playground near the water plus public toilets for your convenience.
Lowan Conservation Park is 13 kilometres south east of Bowhill and a breeding place for wedge-tailed eagles - magnificent creatures. We noticed a large engineering operation at Bowhill - I understand this is a family owned structural engineering firm called Bowhill Engineering - great stuff.
