Alma Bay is a picturesque bay, just 150 m wide. It has two prominent granite headlands running out for 300 m on either end of the beach. Large granite boulders fringe the beach. The main Magnetic Island road runs past the back of the beach, with a foreshore reserve between the road and the beach.

During our car trip around Magnetic Island we stopped off at Alma Bay for a walk to the beach. This has a shaded children's playground and good picnic facilities. The public toilets and changing areas proved very useful.
