The Hinchinbrook Channel is a channel between the Australian mainland and Hinchinbrook Island. It runs for 50 km between Oyster Point, just south of Cardwell, and Lucinda in Far North Queensland. The Aboriginal name for the channel is Bolan Milbirmi. The Herbert River flows into the channel's southern point.© Wikipedia

Hinchinbrook Lookout is alongside the Bruce Highway in Northern Queensland - about 19 kilometres from Ingham. As the name suggests this stop has great views over Hinchinbrook Island and the rivers meandering through the rainforest down to the ocean. These channels between the coast and Hinchinbrook Island are well known as great fishing locations.
A little further along the track from Hinchinbrook Lookout is Panjoo Lookout built to give visitors and photographers an uninterrupted view of the island (no power lines).
I would recommend that you make the effort to stop at these lookouts - wonderful views and plenty of parking.
