South West Rocks

South West Rocks is a very popular holiday destination on the mid north cost of NSW and about 26 kilometres from the Pacific Highway. As you can imagine this place has lots of accommodation options and we called in to look at some of the caravan parks:

• BIG4 Sunshine South West Rocks - a large park with great amenities - beautiful cabins, safari tents, ensuite sites, powered sites and camping areas. This park has a wonderful range of activities for children. Next to the Park is the The Full Circle Eatery with relaxing surrounding – shaded gardens with seating inside and out. This café opens for breakfast and lunch most days and some evenings for dinner.
• Trial Bay Gaol Campground - located on the beach at Trial Bay and sits next to a boat ramp. Some sites back onto the beach with great ocean view, clean amenities and a restaurant/kiosk close by.
• Horseshoe Bay Holiday Park right on the water overlooking Horseshoe Bay and the beach. They have cabins, slab sits and raised pad sites. Three are private ensuite bathrooms available at an extra fee and the park is walking distance to town.  
• Ingenia Holidays South West Rocks - located on Gordon Young Drive and next to a tidal waterway.  This is a very large park with plenty of facilities and a range of cabins.

While visiting South West Rocks we enjoyed a delicious Takeaway from Southwest Rocks Seafood - very nice crumbed fish – salt and pepper calamari (delicious) beetroot scallop, sweet potato scallop and salad + chips.  I know it sounds unusual but the Beetroot Scallop was great.

Another place we visited in town was the South West Rocks Country Club which has a huge range of sporting facilities - golf, bowls, cricket oval (with football nets), tennis courts, skate park and swimming Pool.  All of this and they have a bistro with nightly specials, take away alcohol sales, large car park and courtesy bus.

One of my favourite places to visit was the Craft shop next to police station – found in Boatman's Cottage on Ocean Drive. Staff by volunteers and housed in this quaint old cottage with lots to choose from – reasonable prices and interesting gifts including timber clocks.
