Sawtell beach stretches for 2.1 kilometres along the coastline adjacent to Sawtell village, and the Surf Lifesaving Club can be found just behind the Main Street (turn at the RSL Club). They have a great viewing deck to look up and down the beach and the Lifeguards have a raised platform to give them uninterrupted views of the water. Flags are usually placed near the clubhouse for easy access by visitors - remember to swim between the flags.
Sawtell Surf Life Saving Club (SSLSC) was established in 1932, and has steadily grown over the years helping to keep this part of the coastline safe for swimmers. A sign is displayed near the path down to the beach with information on water temperature and tidal times.
The clubhouse can be hired for fitness classes, courses, meetings and other functions in the large auditorium and/or a purpose built training room. A lovely café operates downstairs overlooking the water - open 7 days a week for coffee, breakfast, and lunch. We have enjoyed coffee here several times while holidaying in Sawtell - what a great spot on the coast of NSW.
