Jurabi Turtle Centre - Cape Range NP

After leaving our accommodation at the Lighthouse Caravan Park, we headed along Yardie Creek Road towards Cape Range National Park with a view to snorkelling off some of the beautiful beaches within the Ningaloo Marine Park. Before arriving at the entrance to the Park we visited the Jurabi Turtle Centre to look at the information on nearby turtle nesting areas. 

This centre is located near the nesting rookeries of three of the world's seven marine turtle species - 

• Green turtles (Chelonia mydas)
• Loggerhead turtles (Caretta caretta)
• Hawksbill turtles (Eretmochelys imbricata)

These beautiful creatures nest on mainland beaches and islands of the Ningaloo Reef during the summer months from November to March. Our visit was during October and some turtles were starting to arrive. These turtles can be easily disturbed by visitors and you are asked to visit the Jurabi Turtle Centre to find out about viewing them safely.

Direction to the Jurabi Turtle Centre are well signposted from the main road and I recommend a visit to this great facility.
