We discovered Milloo Street Wetlands while riding our pushbikes along the Swan Hill River Walk - a 4.6 kilometre track running along the Murray and Marraboor Rivers in Victoria. These wetlands have been created by utilising the storm water drained from the urban areas of Swan Hill. Apparently wetlands such as these help reduce the impact of floods and soak up pollutants by filtering the runoff. You will see that a variety of plant life has been used to help with filtering and we thoroughly enjoyed looking around.
You can walk or cycle around the edge of the wetland looking at the various ponds which attract numerous water birds to the area. There are picnic tables, park benches and plenty of shade to sit and enjoy the activity on the water.
