During our recent visit to Hervey Bay we decided to stay at the beach side suburb of Scarness - along The Esplande. The Scarness Beachfront Tourist Park is one of the council parks in town and very popular with visitors - especially during the winter months.
The park has a number of beachfront sites and walking distance to a range of shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. On our first night we had pre-dinner drinks at the Beach House Hotel - new pub across the road – large and friendly with a huge lounge area, and separate dining room. Range of meals including wood fired pizzas. Drinks reasonable and there is a large takeaway liquor shop out back with a very good range of wines and beers.
We enjoyed Fish and Chips from Mr Seafood - local seafood place that had been recommended and this was delicious - highly recommended. On another night we had takeaway Pizza from Smithys - again very delicious. There is also a small supermarket in the same complex.
There is a cafe next door to the Caravan Park - Enzo's on the Beach - we enjoyed coffee overlooking the water but they also serve breakfast and lunch. Scarness is a lovely part of Hervey Bay with picnic spots, play equipment and a great cycling/walking path.
