The Mount Isa Golf Club can be found on Powerhouse Road, off Mica Creek Road, about seven kilometres from the Visitor Information Centre. This course has been built across the Lena Creek, which is normally dry. Some of the course hazards are large gum trees growing in the centre of several of the fairways. This is an 18 hole golf course which is apparently easy to walk - take plenty of water as it can be very hot in Mount Isa. This is an interesting outback course and you will see plenty of wildlife as you play your round of golf.
The Pro Shop is well equipped and I had to drag my husband away before he purchased another putter (all the ones we currently own apparently do not work properly). There is a large shaded outdoor area beside the Club House where you can sit and enjoy a cold drink, talking to the friendly locals while watching the golfers return.
