There are several parks in town and we chose to stay at the Barcaldine Tourist Park during our second visit to town. This is located on the corner of Box and Bauhinia Streets - along the Landsborough as you head towards Blackall.
We were allocated a great drive through site – narrow but plenty of space in front overlooking fields. There is some truck noise, but not too bad during the night. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by the lovely friendly hosts who were happy to come out and show us the site.
The park has Unisex ensuites with toilet and shower in same room, plus a separate ladies and gents toilet block. The amenities are clean with a bathmat provided in each room. Unfortunately they have to put up a sign asking people not to take the toilet paper and soap – honestly some people are miserly and do not think of their fellow travellers.
Seasonal smoko at 4 pm with billy tea and damper where you can enjoy a chat from a local tour guide Mr Tom Lockie. We spoke to people who went on his tour and said it was great to spend time with someone so knowledgeable about the local area and the Artesian basin.
The Barcaldine Caravan and Tourist Park has lots of shade, powered and unpowered sites, free wireless internet, disabled amenities, laundry, dump point, barbeques, camp kitchen etc. Located at 1 kilometre from the main street. We had a very relaxing evening.
