Tenterfield is a town located in the New England Region of NSW about 187 kilometres north of Armidale. We drove through Tenterfield on a recent caravan trip and stopped briefly to have a look around. There are a couple of caravan parks in town (7 Knights and Craigs caravan parks) which are both located on the main road. We also saw several van parked at the show ground.
Of course Tenterfield is best known for the Peter Allen song "Tenterfield Saddler" and the the Tennerfield Saddlery was classified by the National Trust of Australia in 1972. The doors and woodwork are of red cedar the Saddlery is almost in its original condition. There are lovely old buildings in this friendly country town and it is worth stopping for a while.
