The three bedroom executive family units at the BIG4 Grampians Parkgate Resort are fairly new and we were lucky enough to be given access to one of these beautifully presented cabins. After parking on the fully sealed parking space you walk onto a large covered timber deck overlooking bushland the Sentinel mountain which is part of the Grampians National Park.
The first thing I noticed on the timber deck was a beautiful piece of Redgum used as a bench to sit and enjoy a cuppa or pre-dinner drink while soaking in the view (stools are provided). Slatted timber has been extended on one wall to maintain privacy from the neighbouring cabin. This covered deck also features a beautiful timber table with bench seats and your own private barbeque. I thought this was a really lovely space.
Walk inside and open the blinds for a light, bright living area including a very well appointed kitchen with ample bench space. This room is tastefully decorated with a lovely round table (comfy white chairs), large corner lounge, huge television built into the shelf unit and a cupboard hiding a washing machine – great with children on holidays. The kitchen bench is a very light stone finish with stainless appliances including a dishwasher and an added feature of a matching knife block displayed on the counter. Also provided is a coffee pod machine to enjoy coffee on arrival and a supply of tea, coffee and sugar displayed in a beautiful timber box. There are stools at the bench facing the kitchen for children and I found the cupboards to be well stocked with cups, plates, mugs, even glass casserole and serving dishes. Another very thoughtful feature in this lovely cabin that will sleep eight is the 4 slice toaster – kids don’t have to wait for breakfast.
The main bedroom sits to the right of the entry and has an ensuite with large shower (rain shower head), ample bench space, plus a well presented supply of towels, face washers, soap and toiletries. This room also has a lovely view of the mountains and bushland through the long windows.Along the hall past the kitchen you find a separate bathroom and toilet before you reach the other two bedrooms. This bathroom has a lovely big walk in shower space (no door) and once again a rain shower head.
Bedroom two has a second queen bed, more towels, soap etc, wardrobe, TV and plenty of storage space. This is another bright space with two windows. The third bedroom has two x double bunks with a window placed alongside each bed for plenty of natural light. A wardrobe sits at the end of the bed containing spare blankets with a drawer under one of the bottom single bunks for more storage.
I would not hesitate to stay in this really lovely cabin. A great design for a large family, two couples, or maybe even two small families - heaps of space and a magnificent outlook.
