Open plan living cabin with a queen bed made up with all linen and electric blanket supplied. Two sets of bunks are in a separate bedroom which have linen and towels provided. TV, DVD player and reverse cycle air conditioning with a fully equipped kitchen with stove top, microwave, fridge/freezer and all cooking facilities. An ensuite bathroom with a shower, toilet and hair dryer. These cabins have an outdoor deck with a sail and an outdoor setting.
Cabin No 36 in the BIG4 Grampians Parkgate Resort (pictured) is a family studio configuration. This cabin has a cedar exterior and a lovely deck with a shade sail. It is an older cabin but we very much liked the layout for a couple or small family. A small car parking space beside the cabin leads to the deck and then through the glass sliding door to access the living areas. A glass top table is provided on the deck where you can sit and enjoy looking up towards some of the amazing rock faces of the Grampians National Park.
As the name would suggest, being a studio cabin, the queen bed is situated in the living area. It is in fact housed in an alcove to the left of the front door and is quite a pleasant space with bedside table on one side and wardrobe on the other. Towels face washers, soap, and toiletries are beautifully displayed at the base of the bed.
The living area has a TV mounted on the wall (this can be seen from the queen bed), comfy lounge and dining table. The kitchen is in an alcove on the other side of the living space and is fairly well featured with cook top, microwave, fridge, and once again, thoughtfully supplied with a good range of plates, mugs, cooking utensils, glass serving bowls and casserole dishes – even several clean tea towels. This kitchen has a decent size bench and a lovely window looking out onto the garden area.
The bedroom of this cabin has two x double bunks – again with the top bunk folded against the wall when not required. There is a wardrobe between the beds and this has been cleverly designed to provide a bench space for each of the single beds – upper and lower. At the end of the beds is a long cupboard which is full of shelves and stocked with spare blankets. The towels and sheets for the single beds are stored in plastic bags to keep them nice and clean for use when required.
The bathroom of the family studio is an 'all in one' but quite a good size with a window providing plenty of natural light. The base of the shower could double as a small bath if you are holidaying with little children. A big mirror and bench run the length of one wall. A long cupboard within the unit has an ironing board, broom etc.
We liked the feel and design of this cabin and would not hesitate to stay here on our next trip to the BIG4 Grampians Parkgate Resort near Halls Gap.
