These spacious two bedroom apartments have a queen bed in the main bedroom and two sets of bunks in the second bedroom, sleeping 6 people in total (maximum 4 adults). All main beds are made up and the beds in the second room have linen and towels provided. The ensuite bathroom has a shower, hairdryer and separate toilet. There is reverse cycle air conditioning, TV and DVD. The kitchen is fully equipped with all cooking facilities, full stove with oven, microwave and fridge/freezer.
The brick apartments are older style accommodation offered at the BIG4 Parkgate Grampians Resort near Halls Gap in Victoria. Apparently these buildings are about 40 years old but you would never know it, we think they still look great on the outside with plenty of room on the inside for up to six people.
As you open the door at the front of these units you walk into an open space with a large corner lounge, dining table, TV and air conditioner, plus a good size kitchen. The kitchen has plenty of bench space, an upright stove (oven and cook top), microwave and fridge. Like other accommodation at the park it is stocked with a good supply of plates, mugs, cooking utensils, crockery and glass casserole dishes. Clean tea towels and washing detergent are also supplied by this BIG4 park.
A broom closet sits next to the external door leading from the kitchen at the back of the unit. This external door opens onto a common area between a group of four cabins which would make a great gathering place for people travelling in groups.
Main bedroom is lovely and sunny with a large window facing the front garden. The wardrobe in this room is old style but spacious with plenty of hanging space, drawers, bench and a mirror. The ceilings are higher than normal and the reading lights are behind a wooden plinth on the wall.
Bedroom two has 2 x double bunks which are freestanding and another large window facing the covered carport and nearby playground. There are plenty of shelves in the wardrobe with a heap of spare blankets – it was fairly cold overnight during our stay in the Grampians and apparently winter had not yet arrived! Sheets and towels are presented in plastic bags on the end of each single bed to keep them fresh and clean until required.
This unit has a separate toilet from the bathroom which I always find nice when you have up to six people staying in one cabin. The bathroom has a corner shower with molded shelves on one side. There are several towel rails – enough for all. A mirrored shaving cabinet hangs on the wall above the vanity. This bathroom is one of the biggest bathrooms I have seen during this trip.
The carport along side the Brick Cabin has a sensor light to aid with entry after dark. This unit was centrally located in the park and close to the swimming pools, tennis courts, jumping pillow, etc.
Even the signs have manners in this cabin 'no bike storage inside units – please’!
