My husband had always wanted to visit the Horizontal Falls so we booked our adventure in Kununurra in order to get the right tide for our trip. Unfortunately our departure time was changed the day before our tour and our visit did not coincide with high tide. This was still an amazing trip and we met some great people.
The Horizontal Falls are created between island of the Buccaneer Archipelago when large amounts of water try to surge through a narrow opening. A jet boat takes you through this opening (when safe to do so) and you can easily feel the power of the water.
You can leave from several places and a number of tour operators offer different packages to see the Horizontal Falls. Our trip was for the whole day and we left Broome on a seaplane and returned by 4WD travelling down the Dampier Peninsula - great scenery and good food.
