While staying in Benalla, Victoria, we decided to inflate the Fanatic SUP and head out for a paddle around Lake Benalla. Lake Benalla has been created on Broken River in the centre of town, surrounded by great cycling/walking tracks and picnic spots. The Visitor Information Centre is located on the edge of the lake and this is a great place to find out about areas to swim and paddle (ask about the water quality before diving in).
We found a car park near the tennis courts off Deas Street which was a lovely spot to launch the SUP. It was already inflated and the grassed areas along the foreshore provided easy access to the water. What a lovely way to spend a few hours with a relaxing paddling around the small islands in the centre of Lake Benalla, gliding through reeds while watching the various water birds. A fountain in the middle of Lake Benalla makes for great photos and a cooling spray on a hot summer day.
