The Bells Line of Road (route B59) is a major road in New South Wales and runs from North Richmond on the North-Western outskirts of Sydney to Bell in the Blue Mountains, where it becomes Chifley Road.© Wikipedia
The Bells Line is an alternative route to Sydney from Lithgow if you want to stay away from the Great Western Highway. This is a popular road on the weekends with people from Sydney having a day out in the country. This is a very big apple growing area and there are plenty of cafes along the road selling fruit, apple pies, lunch and coffee.
The road surface is good but can be very windy in places making it popular with motor cyclists. When heading to Sydney there is a steep road out of Lithgow and a steep descent before Richmond as you come down from the Great Dividing Range. Listen out for the Bell Birds as you make your way down the road at Kurrajong Heights - you can hear their beautiful singing in the bush.
