The Whaler - Hobart

The Whaler (once known as Knopwoods) is a beautiful pub in Salamanca Place directly across form the park and Salamanca Markets held each Saturday. This iconic building is close to Hobart's dock area and was the place where whalers returned after being at sea, to be paid and drink with their mates.

The Whaler is housed in a lovely old sandstone building and has plenty of seating outside with shades featuring heaters for colder months. This Tasmanian pub serves local beer, apple ciders and wines.  A very relaxing place to spend the afternoon watching the activities on the Harbour. Very pleased we found Whalers during our recent trip to Hobart - great service and delicious beer.
