The Rock Pool is a short walking track before you reach Carnarvon Gorge Visitor Centre. This is well sign posted and there are plenty of parking spaces before heading down to the water for a 600 metre return walk to the Rock Pool.
The Rock Pool has been carved from the bed of Carnarvon Creek by fast running water during times of floor. You can sometimes see platypus and turtles in the water and there are plenty of shady spots to sit and watch. The picnic area includes toilets and gas barbecue. This is the only place in Carnarvon Gorge designated for swimming but you are asked not to jump or dive as you never know the depth of the water.
It did not look too inviting for a swim during our visit so I was not tempted.
