Description

Home Hill, Queensland is a town in the Burdekin Shire, Queensland, Australia at the delta of the Burdekin River. It is a sugarcane growing area with underground water supplies to irrigate crops. At the 2006 census, Home Hill had a population of 2,907.

Home Hill is a small town on the Bruce Highway between Bowen and Townsville, north Queensland. We stopped here for lunch and had no trouble parking the caravan along the wide streets in the centre of town. Home Hill is beautifully set up for travellers - great (clean) toilets, showers, picnic tables plus stainless steel benches with sinks and barbeques right in the middle of town. This was obviously a very popular place to stop as there were a number of vans and motor-homes parked nearby.

Home Hill is a 'RV Friendly' town with overnight parking permitted along the street next to the railway with toilets and showers available. There is also a dump point just over the railway on the Southern end of the above road.
