During our stay in Hervey Bay, Queensland we decided to enjoy a lovely bike ride along the Esplanade and ended up at the Urangan Pier. This pier is about a kilometre long and a very popular spot for fishing. We also passed a number of people walking the length of the pier - don't worry there are seats located along the way for a rest.
Great views of Fraser Island and back to the mainland from the end of Urangan Pier. Keep an eye on the bird life as we were lucky enough to see a sea eagle eating a fish in the tidal sand flats.
There are a number of cafes, restaurants and bars within a short distance of the pier as well as information boards on the history of the area.
