We called in to look at Forsayth on our trip from Cobbold Gorge to Georgetown in Queensland. There is quite a mining and railway history surrounding Forsayth and the local park has interesting displays of equipment used in the early days - all well signposted. The Savannahlander Train visits this area weekly on a four day tourist trip from Cairns. The public toilets at the railway station are very clean.
We decided to have a hamburger at the takeaway/grocery store/post office next to the Forsayth Caravan Park. This was one of the best hamburgers we had on our trip - full of salad. The shop is also licensed so we had a cold beer (it was a hot day), which was served in a stubby cooler - we have found they often supply a stubby cooler with your beer in outback Queensland.
Forsayth is located in the heart of the Gulf Savannah Region of far North Queensland which is a hub for travellers, fossickers and local station owners - lots to see and do around the area.
