While staying in Charleville we wanted to visit the Royal Flying Doctor Service based in town. Unfortunatlehy the new hanger on John Flynn Way had not been finished so we went to the old building on Old Cunnamulla Road. We watched a film on the work of this great service and looked around at medical chests and communication equipment that were used in days gone by.
We later visited the site of the new RFDS Base, Visitor Centre and Hanger which was still under construction. This looks quite amazing and I would love to go back to Charleville to join a tour of the maintenance facility within this new base.
Charleville RFDS Base services an area almost the size of the UK from the NSW border to the NT - South Australian Border and east to the Carnarvon Ranges. It is astounding how big these areas are and I am always happy to support this great medical service provided to outback Australians.
