X5

In its third generation, the BMW X5 once again surpasses its own standards – as a Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) that offers outstanding luxury in all areas in which the highest demands are made. This is guaranteed by a wide range of intelligent technologies that elevate efficiency, driving dynamics, comfort and versatility to a whole new level – both on and off the road.

Top of the range is the BMW TwinPower Turbo 8-cylinder petrol engine with two parallel turbochargers with Valvetronic, double-VANOS and petrol direct injection. It delivers maximum torque of 650 Nm across a rev range from 2,000 to 4,500 1/min. The engine produces 330 kW to achieve impressive acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds. And thanks to High Precision Injection (HPI), maximum efficiency is extracted due to precisely-measured doses of fuel being injected into the combustion chamber, which results in fuel consumption of just 9.7 l/100 km.

Maximum performance for minimum fuel consumption.
Whether the goal is maximum performance or minimum fuel consumption – for us, the focus is always on delivering quintessential BMW driving pleasure.

BMW EfficientDynamics is the strategy developed by BMW to minimise fuel consumption and emissions while simultaneously increasing dynamics and driving pleasure. It is a comprehensive technology package that includes the drive train, energy management and the vehicle concept – and is standard in every BMW.

The new generation of petrol and diesel engines in the BMW TwinPower Turbo family is responsible for the improved performance and lower fuel consumption. Optimised aerodynamics, along with intelligent lightweight construction, contribute to increased efficiency. The latter lowers the weight while at the same time increasing the car's rigidity. The BMW concept of intelligent lightweight construction involves deploying the right material in the right place, because every material has its specific strengths. This is a demonstration of the impressive innovation leadership at BMW, the only major car manufacturer that relies on ultralight and highly rigid carbon fibre (CFRP) as a key material. BMW also focuses on forward-thinking drive train concepts such as the BMW eDrive technology with a 100 % electric drive train and plug-in hybrids.
