We stayed a couple of nights at Barkly Homestead which is situated about half way between the Queensland/Northern Territory border and Threeways Roadhouse (on the Stuart Highway). All caravan sites are drive-through, on gravel, and they are each separated by a raised garden. These sites are on a diagonal which means you can pull in from either direction - this helps to make entry and exit easy.
Barkly Homestead also has motel-style accommodation, a small pool, camping areas, camp kitchen and covered eating areas. Some of the amenities are ensuite type bathrooms which were very clean.
Barkly Homestead caters for all your needs - fuel, restaurant with a bar area, coffee shop with covered outdoor seating, takeaway food and a gift shop. The food and coffee are great which seems to attract many locals as well as visitors passing through the area.
This is a very busy fuel station which seems to have a constant stream of traffic - it is quite fascinating to sit with your coffee and watch the action.
