Anmatjere is the name given to the Ti Tree Community in the Northern Territory and covers a very large area of land either side of the Stuart Highway - about 150 kilometres north of Alice Springs. We stopped a the Aileron Roadhouse within this community and our attention was drawn to the large statue of Aboriginal Man on the opposite hill. We drove in for a close look and found another large creation - that of an Aboriginal Woman, Child and Goanna.
Aileron Hotel and Roadhouse (located in this small community) has an Aboriginal art gallery, accommodation (camping, caravan grounds and air-conditioned motel rooms) pool, barbeque and picnic area. Of course they also have fuel, and grocery supplies at the store. If you are staying overnight you can purchase breakfast, lunch or dinner with a cold drink in the Glen Maggie bar!
