Moonbi lookout is alongside the New England Highway between Tamworth and Armidale - at the top of the Moonbi Range. Signs indicate the lookout from the highway and there is a large car park at the top of the pass, off the main road.
Stairs have been built up the side of a large rock to a platform that is the Moonbi Lookout - great view down over the valley. This lookout was created in 1938 and has some very interesting stone walls.
During our visit we noticed a couple of people camping for the night around the car park - not sure how long they can stay. There is a toilet block just down the hill from the edge of the parking area.
Take the time to stop and have a look at Moonbi Lookout when you are next making the journey between these two major towns in NSW.
