Kaputar National Park is not far from Narrabri in central NSW and Eckford is one of the many lookouts to visit and enjoy this beautiful part of the country. After stopping at the Mount Kaputar Summit Lookout we headed past Dawson Springs Campground to the Bundabulla circuit walking track. This Track connects Lindsay Rock Tops walk and Eckford lookout.
We only took the short walk to Eckford Lookout which is about 1.8 kilometres return from the car parking area. What a surprise to be heading down hill to a lookout - this path is part sealed with some boardwalks across delicate ground and with steps down the hill side made from logs.
The last part of the boardwalk to the lookout was quite unique – over moss and wetland sitting on the top of the rocky outcrop. Water was trickling over the edge and the view was stunning. Again great photo opportunities as we were visiting the park on a clear day.
We came across some large kangaroos munching on the moss and had to wait for them to jump off the boardwalk. Amazing creatures.
