Cowra is a beautiful town west of Bathurst in NSW and we have stopped here on many occasions while driving in this part of the country. The Visitor Information Centre is located at the intersection of the Mid Western Highway and the Boorowa Road. Of course this is the place to obtain information for your stay as well as purchase local produce, craft and wine grown in the area. The Cowra Visitor Information Centre is open from 9 am to 5 pm, 7 days a week (except Christmas Day). A fascinating hologram presentation is shown at the centre where a local girl tells her personal account of the Cowra Breakout - this is free and attracts many visitors.
Adjacent to the Visitor Information Centre is the Cowra Rose Gardens, cafes and public toilets - just down the road is the Golf Course and across the Boorowa Road are a large number of sporting fields. For those towing caravans or driving motorhomes, you will find a dump point which has a convenient circular driveway for ease of access.
There are plenty of accommodation options in Cowra, including farm stays, and lots to see and do:
The Cowra Van Park is right on the Lachlan River and walking distance to shops, restaurants and many local attractions.
