Landsborough Highway is a western Queensland highway running in the northwest-southeast direction from Morven to Cloncurry. The Landsborough Highway runs through vast tracts of land that was once occupied by William Landsborough, an Australian explorer of the 19th century. It is also the central part of the tourist route known as the Matilda Highway after the popular Australian song Waltzing Matilda, which extends from Bourke in central northern New South Wales to Karumba on the Gulf of Carpentaria.© Wikipedia
We have travelled on the Landsborough Highway in outback Queensland from Augethella to Cloncurry - almost the entire length. It forms part of the Matilda Highway or Outback Way which is a popular tourist route. Remember to always be aware of livestock crossing the road when driving in the country.
We found the road to be in good condition and easy to drive with lots of interesting country towns to stop at along the way. We have stayed the night at:
Most of the towns on this highway have nice wide streets and there is never any problem finding a spot to park the caravan. We have really enjoyed the friendly and welcoming nature of people in outback Queensland and love visiting country towns
