in Western Australia’s remote East Kimberley, you will find Discovery Parks – Lake Kununurra (formerly known as BIG4 Discovery Parks - Lake Kununurra). It is the only park on the edge of the lake, with diverse accommodation from luxury cabins to simple camping site. This is a great spot for fishing with a boat ramp located within the park for easy access to the water. There are loads of facilities at this large park which is very popular. This is a very convenient place to stay for access to nearby tourist attractions like Lake Argyle, Hidden Valley Mirima National Park (mini Bungle Bungles), Wyndam (five rivers lookout), El Questro, Home Valley Station, Emma Gorge etc. We had no trouble finding things to do during our stay in Kununurra.
This Park is within walking distance to the Pump House Restaurant which we found to be a great spot for that pre-dinner drink while watching the magnificent sunsets. The Kununurra Golf Course is along the same road. A cycling and walking track runs all the way into the centre of Kununurra, a great way to explore the town.
The staff are friendly and helpful. This is a bird watchers paradise and we were lucky enough to see Crimson Finches eating in the grass around the van. They are beautiful little birds and fairly rare - we had only ever seen pictures of these finches before our visit to Kununurra. You may even be lucky enough to see a fresh water crocodile sunning itself in the early mornings.
