Fitzroy River Lodge is in the Great Northern Highway just east of Fitzroy Crossing in the Kimberley Region of Western Australia. There are a number of accommodation options available - motel rooms, studios with river views, safari tents, powered and un-powered caravan sites and camping. A bar area and restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining is located beside the reception area and I understand this is very popular with the locals - especially the Sunday night roast (you are advised to book).
Fitzroy lodge is set on 50 acres of natural bush and we found a lovely shaded spot to park our caravan and set up for a few days. Facilities include:
We unpacked our bikes and rode around the park - there seems to be plenty of space for guests although I understand it can be very busy so I suggest you ring ahead. The reception area is large and cool and the staff will happily book tours and give you information on the local area.
We found this caravan park very relaxing and are hoping to return on our next trip through the top of Australia.
