While visiting Swan Hill, Victoria, during our last caravan adventure and fact finding mission, we decided to stay at the BIG4 Riverside Swan Hill – a caravan park on the Murray River near the centre of town. This BIG4 is located beside Riverside Park which has play and exercise equipment, picnic facilities, walking or bike tracks along the river, plus a beautiful space with ponds, fountains and lovely gardens. Riverside Cafe can be found at the entrance to the BIG4 - great coffee, all day breakfast, open seven days week. Public toilets are accessed from the deck of the cafe.
This is a large caravan park with beautiful looking cabins, very clean amenities – no key or code with doors open and a plastic fly shade over entrance (we love it when you don't have to touch the door handle). These amenities were very tidy with a well equipped laundry and convenient clothes line. A beautiful large pool sits near the centre of the park with a large undercover seating area inside the fence - plenty of shade and great for parents to keep an eye on the children.
The BIG4 Riverside Swan Hill has some great facilities:
The barbeque hut was also housing a temporary camp kitchen in one corner while a brand new camp kitchen was being constructed in another area of the park. Our large caravan site was right on the river with plenty of room to leave the car hooked up – slab for awning plus a flat gravel area for parking the van. The sites were very nice with plenty of shade - slightly more expensive than other sites in the park but well worth it.
This caravan park is within walking distance to town and several restaurants as well as the Swan Hill Club with a really lovely courtyard area for a relaxing drink in the afternoon. Adjacent to the park is the Swan Hill Swimming Pool complex which includes a giant water slide - great for the kids. We really enjoyed our stay at the BIG4 Riverside Swan Hill and would not hesitate to return. We found it a great spot for cycling, close to tourist attractions and of course fishing in the Murray River.
When driving from Robinvale to Swan Hill in Victoria we called in to look at the BIG4 Swan Hill caravan park situated on the Murray Valley Highway. This is a large neat park on the edge of town, about one kilometres from the Post Office. There is no direct access to the river – a private property sits between the caravan park and the Murray, although the access is only a short drive from the park. They run kid's activities during all Victorian school holidays which include things like go-kart races, dodge ball on the giant jumping pillow, twilight cricket, scavenger hunts and kite making
Some facilities of this lovely looking park include:
There are a variety of accommodation options at Big4 Swan Hill:
This is a well maintained park with quite plenty of space for the family. It is only a short drive to the Murray River, tourist attractions and the Centre of Swan Hill. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful and the RvTrips team would not hesitate to recommend this as a place to stay in Swan Hill.
