While travelling east from Renmark in South Australia we came across the small community of Cullulleraine – about 40 minutes drive from Mildura in Victoria. Bushmans Rest Caravan Park sits right on the waters edge of Lake Cullulleraine which is a large man made freshwater lake ideal for swimming, fishing, water skiing, canoeing, etc. Apparently the water is pumped from the river for the lake and then used from the lake by farmers in the area - the water level remains constant.
This is a lovely caravan park on the banks of the lake with great access to the water lots of shade and grassed areas for camping or a relaxing picnic. Some features of the park include:
The staff at Bushman Rest Caravan Park were very welcoming and happy for us to park the van and have a look around. There is a boat ramp located right beside the park and there were plenty of boats enjoying a day on the water. A walking track leads form the park around the lake and apparently this is a very popular bird watching location with over 70 species being recorded in the area.
The park is away from the highway and this looks like a lovely peaceful spot for a relaxing holiday - we will definitely be back!
