We stopped at Port Augusta for the night on our trip to the Flinders Ranges in South Australia and were advised to stay at the Discovery Park Port Augusta (formerly the BIG4 Holiday Park). This was a good choice and we were allocated a large drive through site - gravel and very flat. Port Augusta sits at the intersection of major inland highways from Western Australia, Northern Territory, New South Wales and Victoria - this caravan park caters for all visitors, with a huge number of caravan sites (many ensuite) and a large range of cabins.
Facilities of this well maintain (neat and tidy) caravan park include:
The staff made us feel very welcome and our membership discount was applied to the overnight stay. Even though this park is close to the Highway we were not bothered by traffic noise during the night. The roads throughout the park are wide and access to our site was easy. We would not hesitate to stay at this lovely park on our next trip to Port Augusta.
The Shoreline Caravan Park in Port Augusta is a member of Top Parks and is located on the water at the top of Spencer Gulf. This is apparently a good spot for fishing and this caravan park is located off the main highway but I understand there is some noise from the train line across the water.
Some features of the park are:
The rules of this park state that there is to be no noise after 9:30 pm and any wasting water will face immediate eviction.
