Kamarooka Tourist Park     Read more ...

Kamarooka Tourist Park in St George, Queensland is the closest caravan park to town. This in a very convenient location on the main road but  is only small.  The managers on site during our visit were very friendly but had no spaces left for the night.

They were happy for us to have a look around but suggested that you need to book ahead because of the size of the park.

The sites are level, powered sites for vans and average sized mobile home (most are drive-through) with plenty of shade for those travelling with a tend. There is a dump point and all amenities including a laundry and camp kitchen as well as barbeque.

Kamarooka Tourist Park also has a small range of clean and tidy one or two bedroom cabins.

We saw something at Kamarooka that we had never seen before - a container on the back of a truck converted into mobile accommodation.

Pelican Rest Tourist Park     Read more ...

While visiting St George in Queensland we decided to stay at Pelican Rest Tourist Park a Top Park on the Carvarvon Highway – just out of town as you head towards Roma.

This is a lovely large park with lots of open space and flat sites with plenty of shade. The Park was quickly filling up for the night so be quickly chose a spot - drive through with easy access. The park can cater for rigs of any size and seemed to be one of the most popular parks in town.

Pelican Rest Tourist Park has a range of cabins (en-suite and spa) and units scattered around the grounds. The amenities are very clean and the park has a camp kitchen as well as barbeque facilities. The staff were very friendly and helpful and a book exchange operates in the front office. The park is surrounded by farm land and we found it very relaxing watching the horses graze in the paddock next to our van.

This park is only about two minutes drive to town with some of the locals hotels and clubs offering courtesy buses.

St George Caravan Park     Read more ...

During our visit to St George in Queensland during 2016 we drove around to look at the caravan parks in town. St George is located about 190 kilometres south of Roma. The St George Caravan Park can be found at 221 Victoria Street (Balonne Highway) just before you cross the Balonne River at the southern end of town.

This is the closest park to the Balonne River but is quite old and in need of some TLC.  Amenities were clean and they had some drive-through sites suitable for large motor homes and caravans. The cabins look good and were raised well above the ground - I guess due to the proximity to the river in case of flooding.
