We turned off the Bruce Highway about 55 kilometres north of Townsville to drive along Hencamp Road towards the Rollingstone Beach Caravan Resort, a BIG4 park on the Queensland coast. You may notice that along this road the crops change from sugarcane to pineapples. This is a huge park with a variety of cabins and large flat caravan or camping sites - some along the beachfront with lovely ocean views.
After taking a few photos we headed to the large resort style pool for a relaxing swim after a long day in the car. This is a beautiful pool with plenty of shade, seating and grassed areas. The resort also has a , licensed bar/cafe, large screen for movies, jumping pillows, several amenities blocks and lots of space.
The beach looked like a lovely place to explore at low tide with a number of rock pools and shallow water. There are plenty of shaded spots to sit under the palm trees and a gazebo has been erected on the foreshore near the beach front caravan sites. This park has a boom gate near reception and it allows day visitors (fees apply) to come and use the facilities. There are several ensuite sites and these are easy to spot as they are painted in bright colours. We found the staff friendly and helpful.
The cabins are relatively new and very well equipped for families or mayby try the studio ocean view cabin if there are just two of you.
Our caravan site was large enough to stay hooked up overnight and close to one of the amenities blocks. The amenities are very clean and spacious.
