Paronella Park is a must see tourist attraction when travelling down the coast of northern Queensland - not far from Innesfail. The entry fee into the Park allows for a free powered caravan or camping site for one night. Extra nights were available for $30 per night. If you are not towing or driving a motor home then don't worry because Paronella Park has a range of small cabins for rent.
When we arrived there were no powered sites left but the staff at Paronella Park went out of their way to find a spot for us to stay the night. We were happy to have an unpowered site but they allowed us to park beside the main entrance with an outside power outlet. Only condition was that we had to move the van before 9 am the next morning for deliveries - this was not a problem.
The caravan park is set among dense tropical gardens with clean amenities, camp kitchen, barbeques and laundry facilities. Some of the sites are small so make sure you inform staff of the size of your van when booking. I suggest you call ahead when you wish to visit Paronella as the caravan park is very popular.
Staying overnight allows you to join a night tour of the castle and then partake in a more comprehensive daytime tour. Joining both will allow you to really appreciate the vision of José Paronella in creating this amazing place.
Keep an eye out for the beautiful bird life around Paronella Park Camping area - we managed to see a Sun Bird in a nest built beside the amenities block. These are beautiful little birds.
