Walkabout Creek Hotel can be found on the Landsborough Highway in McKinlay, Queensland (between Winton and Cloncurry). This pub was made famous by the 1986 Australian movie Crocodile Dundee - of course we went inside for a beer instead of the cup of tea I had planned.
We had a lovely chat with Debbie, one of the new owners, and had a good look around at the nostalgic bits and pieces hanging on the walls of the main bar area. We now own a Walkabout Creek cap which has been one of my husband's favourite purchases. There is accommodation available (ensuite to basic single bed rooms) and 6 drive-through caravan sites with power and water. There are also plenty of camping spots behind the Hotel and this is a popular tourist attraction - delicious pub meals and cold beer.
