We stayed at Lake Maraboon Holiday Village, a Top Tourist Park which is about 17 kilometres from Emerald in central Queensland. This was a really lovely place to stay and we were allocated a lovely caravan site overlooking the water. Local birds come to visit each morning and evening - I guess looking for a feed. We even saw a possum that ran in front of me before scampering up a nearby tree.
Features of this lovely caravan park include:
Lake Maraboon Holiday Village provides plenty of space to park your boat as the lake is a popular for fishing and catching a type of crayfish called red claw - the males have bight red nippers. This is a very popular caravan park during school holidays - plenty of space for the kids to run around, lots to explore and the lake is great for a variety of water sports.
We walked down to the edge of the lake to enjoy the sun setting over the water which was beautiful. I am more than happy to recommend this as a place to stay when holidaying near Emerald - the facilities are great and the staff were friendly and helpful.
