Hughenden Allen Terry Caravan Park     Read more ...

During our travels in outback Queensland we stayed at the Hughenden Allen Terry Caravan Park just off the Flinders Highway in Hughenden (of course). We booked for one night and ended up staying for three - managers Darryl and Jodie Coward were friendly and welcoming and we found lots to do in the area. We had a drive-through site which was sealed - step out of the caravan onto grass. This is a council park which is kept very neat and tidy - amenities are a bit old but very clean.

On our first night we headed to the camp kitchen to be entertained by a man singing and playing guitar - just a gold coin donation (we have found that a number of people on the road earn a little money this way). This was also a good opportunity to meet some fellow travellers. The camp kitchen had plenty of undercover seating, two large barbecues, fridge, microwave, boiling water on tap and a large bench space.

The Park has lots of trees for shade, and they endeavour to keep the grounds covered in grass for campers (this is a bit hard in the middle of a drought). They have air-conditioned cabins as well as single en-suited rooms - a number of the caravan sites within the park can cater for large rigs.

Hughenden Allen Terry Caravan Park is in a quiet locations but convenient enough to walk to a local hotel (selling meals), the swimming pool and the centre of town. We would definitely stay here again.
