Our articles have been grouped into locations so you can better read about what there is to see and do in a town.
It's easy, start by picking a location. Each article has a link to an RvTrips' web page containing more detailed information, photos and maps.
Goldfields Caravan Park is located on St George Street, Georgetown, Queensland - just off the Gulf Development Road. The powered sites at Goldfields Caravan Park are well shaded under large trees. We had a drive-through site which was very easy to access - be aware of the overhead branches when leaving. One of these beautiful trees is home to a family of tawny frogmouth owls. They are very hard to spot, as they blend with the tree bark so well - the on-site manager is happy to point them out to visitors.
The on-site managers were very welcoming and helpful - payment for your site may be made at the service station up the road (owners of the park) or by cash to the on-site managers. The park is quite basic, but the amenities are clean and consist of unisex toilets and showers. There is also a free barbecue, camp kitchen and a large camping area.
The Midway Caravan Park can be found on the Gulf Development Road (North Street), Georgetown, Queensland. When we stopped at the park to look around we spoke to the new owner who was working very hard to clean up the area - it was very tired.
The Midway Park is 500 metres from the town and walking distance to the Terrestrial Visitor Information Centre. It is a small park with basic facilities and a service station completes the complex. They provide toilets and showers, laundry, kiosk/shop, gas refills, ice etc.
