We stayed overnight at the Discovery Park while visiting Cloncurry in Queensland. It is located on the Flinders Highway on the eastern side of town with easy access. Our powered caravan site was on a beautiful shady grassed area with plenty of space to relax. The site was level and we were able to drive-through and leave the car hooked on the caravan. Other accommodation available at this park are un-powered camping or caravan sites and self-contained cabins that sleep up to five people.
The Discovery Park has a well-appointed camp kitchen, pool area, barbeque, internet access and a free laundry (it was free during our stay so hopefully will be when you visit).
The park supplies a large number of cabins for miners who work in the area and they invite you to join the evening smorgasbord dinner for a small fee - a good meal and night off cooking.
Cloncurry Caravan Park Oasis can be found on the Flinders Highway, Cloncurry - about one kilometre from the centre of town. This is quite a big park with some large drive-through sites - No Rig Too Big. Most of the sites seem to be separated by shrubs which helps provide some privacy. We visited on a hot day and the numerous trees around this park provided plenty of shade
This caravan park has two amenities blocks, coin operated laundry, camp kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave and big TV), as well as a central dump point for your convenience. They also provide a shaded inground swimming pool - important on a hot outback day. The cabins at the Oasis Caravan Park looked neat and tidy.
