BIG4 Ingenia Holidays Cairns Coconut Resort     Read more ...

During our last trip to Cairns in Northern Queensland we stayed at the BIG4 Cairns Coconut Holiday Resort which is one of the neatest parks I have ever seen. This is definitely worthy of a 5 star rating and has won awards for one of the best parks in Australia.

The first thing they do after checking in is put you in a cart – Nemo Buggy, Turtle Buggy or Frog Mobile and show you around the park pointing out all the features and showing you the site for your caravan, tent or cabin. They even have one Super Ensuite site with washing machine, dryer, private bbq, spa, shower and toilet - of course this large site is extremely popular and booked well in advance.

This park has a huge number of activities for children including splash water park, jumping pillows, children's playgrounds, mini golf, several pools and outdoor movies. Some facilities include:

  • beautiful amenities - clean and lots of space
  • cafe
  • pool table
  • courtesy bus to Cairns CBD
  • recreation room
  • camp kitchen - large and lots of seating under cover
  • caravan storage
  • dump point
  • mini mart
  • tour bookings and pick up

BIG4 Cairns Coconut Resort has a huge range of cabins including a three bedroom condo to suit those wanting a bit of luxury. This park has so much to offer that I am sure I have missed a few features. Highly recommended.

BIG4 Cairns Crystal Cascades Holiday Park     Read more ...

The BIG4 Cairns Crystal Cascades Holiday Park is accessed via Rocks Road north of Cairns and not far from the Crystal Cascades Waterfall or the Baron River. We received a very friendly greeting form the relieveing manager who was happy for us to look around and take some photos.

There is a children's playground conveniently located next to the pool and spa.  A raised and covered barbeque are is also beside the pool which makes this a lovely spot to relax and enjoy lunch or dinner.

Crystal Cascades Holiday Park has various cabins include two story units looking into the trees around the perimeter of the grounds. The cabins have a covered carport and plenty of room for the family.

The amenities are located in the centre of the park which include laundry, a children's bathroom and unisex disabled bathroom. A unique dump point in this park utilizes  a toilet in a separate room at the rear of the amenities with soap on tap to wash hands after emptying your toilet's cassette.

The brochure says that this place is "where the rainforest meets the park" - great for bird watchers (they have a book at reception to help identify various species).

A lovely relaxing place to stay near Baron Gorge National Park - clean, tidy and well maintained.

Cairns Holiday Park     Read more ...

Cairns Holiday Park is a member of Top Parks and has a very nice entrance off Little Street with plenty of space to pull over with the caravan or motor home while checking into your site. They have a convenience store and tour booking service to ensure you get to see all that Cairns, the Great Barrier Reef and surrounding rainforests have to offer. Again an old park but very close to the CBD (walking distance), surrounded by tropical gardens providing plenty of shade.

Cairns Holiday Park offers excellent accommodation options for the backpacker, grey nomads, campers and families. Accommodation includes:

  • Drive through powered sites are situated close to the amenities
  • unpowered camping and caravan sites
  • ensuite powered sites
  • lodging accommodation sleeping up to 3 with shared facilities
  • ensuite luxury studios (2 people)

Facilities at the Cairns Holiday Park include swimming pool, kiosk, air conditioned TV room, tropical fruit and herb garden as well as a camp kitchen. We would not hesitate to stay at this well maintained park in the middle of Cairns.

Cairns Sunland Leisure Park     Read more ...

Cairns Sunland Leisure Park has some very nice looking cabins located near the entrance with a boom gate for security. The caravan park does not look very big from the main road but is long and narrow with one way streets and angled sites for each access - separate exit with automatic boom gate. Caravan sites are gravel for van and car with a slab under the awning.

This park has a big pool area (a little old), large laundry facilities and baby bathrooms provided for those travelling with the family. We received a very nice welcome from the office staff who were more than happy for us to look around.

Sunland Leisure Park is ideally located approximately 4 kilometres from the Cairns airports and only about 4 kilometres from the Cairns CBD. They have a range of cabins and villas to suit all families with a camp kitchen, barbeque area and TV room for those camping. This park has lush tropical gardens providing plenty of shade.

Cairns Villa & Leisure Park     Read more ...

Cairns Villa and Leisure Park in Pease Street has plenty of cabins which I believe are Semi-permanent and long term rentals.

We did not go into the park as the sign out front says 'Trespassers will be prosecuted'. Not sure if they have caravan and/or camping sites.

Whiterock Leisure Park     Read more ...

White Rock Leisure Park in Cairns is located just off the Bruce Highway - a little hard to get to with no direct access from the highway. It provides budget accommodation in a well established tropical setting.

During our visit to the park we could not find any brochures and the office was shut until 3 pm so we were unable to obtain much information. They apparently offer a variety of cabins, budget units, powered caravan sites and big shady camp sites.

Most local day tour companies pick up and drop off daily at the White Rock Leisure Park and tours can be booked directly from our on-site Tour Desk.

This is a basic park for those with a budget in mind.
