Discovery Parks - Airlie Beach (formally known as BIG4 Airlie Cove Resort and Caravan Park). This park looks great and there are plenty of activities to keep the children happy - jumping pillow, large pool, big chess set, playground, basketball court and heaps more. It is is set in lovely tropical gardens and the staff were really helpful - even when we just wanted to look around and take some photos.
Features of the Park include:
There is a really nice camp kitchen located in the grounds which is open on three sides and is well equipped. They have bird feeding every morning so you can watch beautiful parrots that visit these lovely gardens.
The BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort is a large and beautiful caravan park on Shute Harbour Road, as you head towards Airlie Beach. There is a lagoon style pool with two water slides which is great for the children, and I understand a new water park is being constructed. Other activities include tennis, mini golf, jumping pillows, volley ball etc. It looks absolutely amazing with wonderful tropical gardens - very welcoming.
Other features of the BIG4 resort area:
This park looks quite amazing and is really well maintained - very neat and tidy. It has lots to offer and I would not hesitate to stay here on our next trip to beautiful Airlie Beach. The RvTrips team would like to head back to North Queensland very soon.
The BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort goes the extra mile and provides a storage area at the rear of the park for cars and or caravans when visitors want to spend a few days boating around the Whitsundays or staying on Hamilton Island. The Palm Room behind the immaculate reception area and gardens is available for conferences, weddings, family reunions etc (with the park able to accommodate all guests). During our recent visit to the park a mobile outlet was selling coffee, homemade pies and juices - very convenient.
This was our first visit to Airlie Beach and we stayed at the Seabreeze Tourist Park - a Top Tourist Park located on Shute Harbour Road. This is a small friendly park and is located within walking distance of the Whitsunday Shopping Centre - Coles supermarket, chemist, bank, post office, Bucks Seafood and a variety of specialty shops. The reception area is large and welcoming - a great range of brochures on the area and the staff are happy to book any tours for you. We booked several tours during our stay and each company picked us up from the front of the caravan park which was very convenient.
Facilities include:
We loved the new amenities block which is an hexagonal shaped building with individual ensuite type bathrooms opening to the outside - great if travelling with someone needing assistance or disabled visitors. These are very well designed and easy to mop out after you shower.
It is easy to access to the Airlie Beach Boardwalk (Bicentennial Walkway) from the caravan park and we cycled along this path several times - following the water into Airlie Beach. Banjos Bar and Bistro is located in front of the shopping centre and is a great place to go for meals - they have various specials throughout the week including two meals for the price of one available some nights.
Across the road from Seabreeze Tourist Park you will have access to - the ocean (swimming enclosure and fishing), undercover skate park, basketball court and a boat ramp - Abell Point Marina is only a short walk from the entrance. We originally booked at the Seabreeze Tourist park for two nights and ended up staying ten - we would be very happy to stay at this park again.
Flametree Tourist Village is a Top Tourist Park which is located on Shute Harbour Road between Airlie Beach and Shute Harbour. It looks very inviting as it has beautiful tropical gardens providing plenty of shade over the caravan sites - staff were friendly and helpful.
Features of the Flametree Tourist Village are
This Park is located close to Shute Harbour or Airlie Beach which is convenient for catching a ferry to the Whitsunday Islands - the reception will let you know bus times. The National Park borders the Flametree Tourist Village and there are lots of native animals and birds visiting during the day.
Island Gateway Holiday Park is a Top Tourist Park just south of Airlie Beach on the corner of Jubilee Pocket Road and Shute Harbour Road. They have beautiful well maintained tropical gardens and have bird feeding every afternoon at 4pm - beautiful parrots.
Features of this park include:
There are some unique little tepee tents if you want to try camping without the hassle of erecting a tent at the end of the day - you need to bring your own linen and they have shared facilities. The staff were very friendly and have a large range of brochures available - they will even make tour bookings for you. This looks like a lovely place to stay.
