Wirib Tourism Park at Timber Creek is located on the Victoria Highway 285 kilometres west of Katherine and 229 kilometres east of Kununurra - this makes it a very convenient place to take a break from driving. This park looked to be neat and tidy with large flat grassy sites - plenty of shade. It backs onto Timber Creek which flows into the Victoria River - a great spot for barramundi fishing. Wirib Tourism Park has powered sites for caravans, campers and motorhomes - they can also cater for large rigs. Other accommodation provided at this park ranges form units that sleep 2 people to motel-style rooms that will sleep 6 (these are air-conditioned). The Park has a small shaded swimming pool, well equipped camp kitchen, clean amenities and conference facilities.
There is a supermarket (IGA), petrol station (open 24 hours 7 days a week), restaurant and coffee shop plus a takeaway food outlet. We stopped for fuel and ate our picnic lunch at the shaded picnic tables provided in front of this convenient Roadhouse. The espresso coffee from Wirib Tourism Park was good and there are plenty of spots to park off the main road when towing a caravan.
Timber Creek Hotel and Caravan Park is located on the Victoria Highway at Timber Creek in the Northern Territory about 193 km east of the West Australian border. It is a very convenient place to stop while travelling from Katherine to Kununurra.
A variety of accommodation styles are available - Caravan Park with both powered and un-powered sites, budget rooms (no ensuite), Budget rooms (with ensuites) , self contained cabins, and motel rooms. All rooms are air-conditioned and have a colour television as well complimentary tea and coffee making facilities
The caravan park has lovely big trees for shade and flat sites but there was not much grass around - everything looked neat and tidy. Timber Creek runs behind the caravan park and they have crocodile feeding each evening at 5 pm.
This complex has an air-conditioned public bar, fully licensed restaurant, fuel, ice, bait, fishing tackle, takeaway food souvenirs and groceries - a one stop rest area. We called in to take some photos and found the staff to be very helpful and friendly.
