We stayed at the Katherine Holiday Park (formerly known as the BIG4 Katherine Low Level Caravan Park) when visiting Katherine in the Northern Territory. This is a very large park located on the outskirts of town with great facilities -
This park is located near the Low Level Nature Park which is a lovely spot for a walk or to fishing in the Katherine River. We had a lovely shaded site with a large cement slab for the annex, backing onto a neighbouring farm. The Katherine Holiday Park has lovely flowing shrubs and trees that attract a variety of birds. We really enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to recommend this park to anyone visiting Katherine.
The Boab Caravan Park, Katherine, is a small tourist park located on the Victoria Highway and close to town. The park has 36 full length powered concrete slab sites (all weather), and 8 self contained cabins. This is a very popular place to stay within walking distance of the Katherine Hot Springs and the Katherine River. The park has plenty of shade and lovely grassed sites which are large enough to accommodate motorhomes.
Facilities of the Boab Caravan park include:
This is a neat and tidy looking caravan park and I would have no hesitation staying here on our next trip to Katherine.
Riverview Tourist Village is a Top Tourist Park located close to the Centre of Katherine - just four minutes from the Post Office on the Victoria Highway as you heads towards Kununurra. This park is just a short walk to Katherine Hot Springs for a relaxing dip or head down to Katherine River which is great for fishing.
Facilities of Riverview Tourist Village include:
The caravan and camping sites at Riverview Tourist Park seem to be large and flat with plenty of shade (they were mostly dirt when we visited the area during the dry season) - pets are welcome. The reception staff were friendly and helpful - they will make tour bookings for you and have maps on the local area.
Shady Lane Tourist Park is a Top Tourist Caravan Park located about six kilometres from Katherine on the road to Nitmiluk National Park - Katherine Gorge. This a large park with plenty of flat caravan sites and lovely shaded areas. The sites and roads around the park are mostly gravel (we didn't see much grass) - it was well maintained and very welcoming. This park is close to Katherine Gorge (about 23 kilometres), and a short walk to the Katherine River if you are a keen fisher person.
Facilities of the Shady Lane Tourist Park include:
No pets are allowed at the Shady Lane Tourist Park and the caravan sites are set well back from the road. This looks like a very relaxing place to stay while exploring the area.
