During our visit to Kakadu National Park we stayed in our caravan at Gagudju Cooinda Lodge Caravan Park which is just off the Kakadu Highway - near Yellow Water Billabong. Our site was large and flat and shaded from the westerly sun. This is a great place for a base to explore Kakadu - walking distance to Yellow Water Billabong or Warradjan Cultural Centre and only a short drive to Bawali Visitor Information Centre, Jabiru and various lookouts.
Cooinda Lodge caravan park has powered and unpowered sites plus dorm-style accommodation with air-conditioning. All the campground guests have full access to Cooinda Lodge facilities - resort pool, restaurant, alfresco dining, bar, tour booking desk, and gift shop. The general store at Cooinda Lodge sells basic groceries, ice, snacks, fishing lures, insect repellent, camping equipment etc.
Facilities of the Caravan Park include:
The Campground backs onto the bush and we went on a number of walks around the area - great opportunity for bird watching and taking photos. We found the staff at the Caravan Park very friendly and helpful - always happy to stop and chat with information on things to see and do. We would definitely stay here on our next adventure caravanning in the Northern Territory.
